Jason Anderson was in contention for a podium early in the main event at round 16 of the Monster Energy Supercross in Salt Lake City until encountering altitude sickness in the closing stages of the race.

After a solid back half of the 2021 season, the 2018 450SX champion had a podium pace going in the second to last main event of the season at Rice-Eccles Stadium, starting inside the top three and battling up front early on.

In the latter stages of the race, however, Anderson dropped down the running order, eventually finishing seventh on the night. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team later citing altitude sickness as the culprit for the drop in pace.

Anderson has had difficulties at altitude on prior occasions in his career, opting to spend an extended period in New Mexico last year prior to the extended seven-race stay at Utah.

With just one round remaining on the 2021 schedule, Anderson currently sits sixth in the 450SX standings with a best result of third coming at both Arlington 1 and Atlanta 2.
