After an up and down start to his rookie season in the 450SX class, Dylan Ferrandis is looking forward to the break in the Supercross schedule to improve heading into the last five rounds of racing.

The Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider has had an impressive start to his first season in the premier class, taking his first podium at Houston 2. He’s since shown consistent speed and currently sits inside the top 10 in championship points.

His success hasn’t come without its trials though, multiple crashes have allowed minor injuries to stack up with minimal time to recover between races. Happy with his progress in the series so far, Ferrandis is looking at the three-week break in the schedule as an opportunity to recover and improve his fitness before closing out the season.

“I think we made a good step in the right direction with the team on the bike,” said Ferrandis. “So now I need to work on myself and try to get back in shape. The last few weeks, I’ve been up and down with a lot of crashes and some small injuries that I’ve had to deal with, so now I need to heal up and get back to work and try to be more fit for the last five rounds.”

The Frenchman continues to learn quickly as he works through his first season on the 450 with help of the Star Racing Yamaha team that took him to multiple 250 class championships.

“We made some improvements today,” he continued. “The team did a good job on the bike, and they made it a little better for me. I keep learning and keep trying to do better, but today I was honestly really tired all day.

“Physically it was just not a good day. I tried the best I could and finished seventh in the main event. It’s not too bad, but not what I’m looking for.”

The Montser Energy Supercross season now takes two weekends off before getting back to action at Atlanta Motor Speedway for a three race residency.
