The ever-evolving conversation surrounding which shock Cooper Webb will run through the end of the season seems to have finally concluded, with the red plate-holder confirming his choice on the press conference following Arlington 3.

The Red Bull KTM rider went back and forth throughout the early part of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross season between the air shock and traditional spring shock.

Webb, the 2019 450SX champion eventually found comfort on the traditional shock that’s now helped propel him to the top of the 450SX championship standings. He has been fairly open with the media throughout the process from race to race and took time to address his decision following his sweep of all three races at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

“At the beginning of the year, we were really keen on the air stuff,” Webb explained. “To be honest, it’s really good, it’s just we didn’t have much time with it. December is when I got it and we did some testing but it’s something that we’re learning every week.

Webb confirmed that he and the team plan to continue running the air shock going forward but ultimately cannot turn a blind eye to just how comfortable he’s been on the spring shock, the results speaking for themselves.

“So I think, for me, I went back to what I ran last year and just what I know,” he continued. “I’m sure we’ll develop it a little bit here and there and the goal is to be on it moving forward. But I think right now with where I’m at and how I’m riding and everything, I think we’ll stick to the spring and just go from there.”
