On the heels of his career-best 450SX finish, Mitchell Oldenburg is looking forward to being ‘better prepared’ the next time he’s called up to the premier class of Monster Energy Supercross.

Muc-Off Honda’s 250SX East class contender seems to be finding his stride on their 450 in just his third appearance as a fill-in rider for injured Justin Brayton, notching his best finish at Arlington 3 with 14th place.

Following the main event, Oldenburg gave insight into how he’s feeling after his third go at lining up with the best Supercross riders in the world.

“This is only my sixth time riding this bike,” Oldenburg explained, “and my third race on a 450 so to finish 14th is awesome. I am pretty pumped with how the night turned out.”

With Brayton suffering multiple injuries a crash at Arlington 2, it’s currently unclear if he’ll return when the series gets back underway in Atlanta in just over two weeks’ time. Oldenburg is confident he’ll be ready if he’s called up to compete at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“I made a few passes,” he continued, “which was great and I am getting more comfortable on the 450 with each ride. I am not sure if Justin [Brayton] will be back for Atlanta, but I will be better prepared if he isn’t.”
