Now just two points down in the championship, Cameron McAdoo is aiming for wins as he battles for the 250SX West title.

With one win under his belt and four races left in the season, the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider is in position to make a run at his first Supercross championship.

While content with his second place finish in the main event at Arlington 3, his mentality has shifted as the series begins to come down to the wire.

“I expect to win and I want to win,” McAdoo explained. “We’re really close in this points chase, every point counts and we gave a lot of them up on Tuesday. I was actually just telling my mom on the way out [of the stadium], 12 months ago if I win my heat race and get a second on the night, I’m stoked.”

“You’ve got to enjoy it still, but that’s not our goal to get second, we’ve got to get max points and win races. Once you win it’s really all you strive for. It’s a good night still and I mean, we’re only two points apart and we have four races left so it’s going to be good racing the rest of the season.”

McAdoo’s confident going into the final four races of the season after following his title rival Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) for most of the main event in Arlington, now knowing what he needs to work on as the series takes a two-week break.

“I have pretty good confidence. It was good in the main, we were close for a long time, and we were kind of doing a bit of a yo-yo. There were some areas where he was making time up on me and also a couple of parts of the track I could make up some time.”

“It was good to run up there, we just need to be a bit more precise coming through the lappers. We do have some stuff to work on though and we’re going to do our best to come out swinging in Atlanta.”

The series will return for three races inside Atlanta Motor Speedway starting 10 April. The residency will feature track designs similar to Daytona, where McAdoo took the win in convincing fashion earlier in the season.
