Championship contender and second-place finisher at the 2021 Daytona Supercross Cooper Webb claimed it’s easy to overthink bike settings when it comes to preparing for Daytona.

Every season the Daytona Supercross presents a unique set of challenges with its fast and rough layout, with most riders and teams setting up Daytona sections at their test track to search for settings and prepare for the round.

Webb says while it’s fun to ride something different at the test track, it’s not an essential tool for success at the round as he didn’t end up too far off the settings he’s run at previous rounds this season.

“I started pretty soft today,” Webb explained after the race, “and just kept going stiffer, stiffer, stiffer and really wasn’t far off from what I’ve been racing at the other races. It’s easy to over think that’s for sure.”

This isn’t always the case at the famed Daytona International Speedway, but this year’s track ended up coming to life as more of a standard supercross.

“To me the rhythms tonight were honestly normal rhythms,” he continued. “We had the high speeds and stuff like that but there weren’t many moguls and the outdoor style [sections] that they [usually] throw in.”

“It’s cool to switch it up and ride a Daytona section [at the test track] but to be honest, yeah I don’t think it is ever really relevant when we get there.”
