A newly-formed Manluk Rock River Yamaha Merge Racing team has been announced, signing Alex Martin for the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross seasons.

The future of Martin has been in the air since the collapse of JGRMX Suzuki, however, it has now been confirmed that the 31-year-old will return to Yamaha machinery for the first time in four years.

“I’m super-excited to be working with my new team, Manluk Rock River Yamaha Merge Racing,” Martin commented. “I had some of the best years of my career with Yamaha. I’m looking forward to what the new team can do in 2021. Three great organizations and I’m grateful that we could organize this new team.”

The new program will be backed by global manufacturing company Manluk, aligned with the Rock River Yamaha dealership and Merge Racing Technologies. All three will combine to form a collaborative effort that will be led by Martin into next year.

Only limited information has been released by the Manluk Rock River Yamaha Merge Racing team, which doesn’t include details on what category Martin will be competing in or if they will be adding any more riders, but it’s expected that he will be riding a YZ250F in the 250SX and 250MX category.
