Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha has confirmed the signing of Nate Thrasher as he prepares to turn professional, testing aboard the factory-backed YZ250F at Glen Helen on Thursday.

Thrasher was supposed to line-up in the Millville round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross last weekend until it became apparent that he would be leaving TLD Red Bull KTM in favor of the Yamaha deal.

While information remains limited aside from a post from both Star Racing and Thrasher on social media, it’s an important step in Thrasher’s career on what’s regarded to be the most competitive bike in the 250 class.

In the recent Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s, claimed runner-up in both 250 B and Schoolboy 2 (12-17) B/C categories following multiple moto wins throughout race-week in Tennessee. It’s unclear if he will ride any of the final three nationals.
