Tomac emerges fastest in qualifying at Atlanta Supercross

Reigning champion Sexton top the timesheets in 250SX East.

Red-plate holder Eli Tomac has gone quickest in 450SX qualifying at Atlanta’s ninth round of Monster Energy Supercross.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider set a blistering lap of 50.294s to edge out rival Ken Roczen (Team Honda HRC), while the top three was completed by Justin Hill (Smarttop Bullfrog MCR Honda).

Former champion Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) was fourth followed by teammate Dean Wilson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing).

The top 10 was completed by Malcolm Stewart (Smarttop Bullfrog MCR Honda), reigning champion Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), Justin Barcia (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing), Martin Davalos (Team Tedder KTM), and Justin Brayton (Team Honda HRC).

In the 250SX East class, reigning champion and joint points leader Chase Sexton (Geico Honda) emerged fastest, setting a 50.406s to position himself a second fast than fellow red-plate holder Shane McElrath (Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing).

RJ Hampshire (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) was third on the combined timesheets ahead of rookie Pierce Brown, the TLD Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider making his Supercross debut tonight.

Garrett Marchbanks (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) was fifth followed by Jeremy Martin (Geico Honda), Jordon Smith (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki), Jimmy Decotis (JGRMX Yoshimura Suzuki Racing), Nick Gaines (Yamaha) and Cedric Soubeyras (Husqvarna).
