A heat race victory in the 250SX West category at Oakland provided Cameron McAdoo a timely boost in his return to racing, the number 29 still feeling the effects of a collapsed lung sustained in St. Louis.

The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider had been sidelined since the second round, making his presence felt on return with a motivating victory in heat race two.

McAdoo endeavoured to convert his race success into a strong main event result, however the 22-year-old was struck by another motorcycle to his already injured chest, prompting him to salvage P14.

“It was really good to be back lining up for the team,” said McAdoo. “Getting the heat race win felt awesome. I got a decent start in the main and was holding a top 10 but made a mistake and went down.

“The track was technical and still not being quite 100 percent cost me a little bit in the end. It was great to get out there and see where I was at because I just didn’t know until I did it.”

Monster Energy Supercross heads to Petco Park in San Diego this Saturday night for round six of the series.
